At 10 a.m. Tuesday morning Toms River Poli9ce received numerous calls about a silver Jeep Cherokee operated by a possible intoxicated driver south on Fischer Blvd.  Officer Brian Jarka observed the suspect vehicle northbound on Coolidge Avenue in the southbound lanes forcing vehicles off the road.    Officer Jarka pulled behind the vehicle activated his emergency  lights to conduct a motor vehicle stop  at Bay Avenue where the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light.  The vehicle then went in reverse and struck the marked patrol unit.  Arrested was Dominick Gage 23 of Whiting New Jersey.  Mr. Gage informed officers he was not under the influence of alcohol but took oxycodone a few hours before being stopped.

Mr. Gage was charged with DWI, driving while suspended, backing on a highway and his father Joseph Gage was issued a summons for allowing a suspended driver to operate a motor vehicle.

Investigation found he was also involved with a minor accident at 830 am on Hooper Avenue where his car struck the rear of a vehicle stopped at a traffic light.  The 32 year old Toms River women pulled into the parking lot to exchange information when Mr. Gage left the scene north on Hooper Avenue.  Officer Worth issued Mr. Gage a summons for careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident for this first incident.
