Toms River Family & Community Magazine: We’ve got you covered

             In 2004, Our Company Launched GoKidsNJ which quickly became one of the most popular family tourism and entertainment destinations on the internet with over 2,000,000 visitors per year!    In 2008, after 4 years of operating GoKidsNJ, we decided to take our idea local and we created Jackson NJ Online, a website with the sole  intention of promoting Jackson Township tourism, families, community and sports.  In 2009, we launched JTOWN (Jackson Township) Magazine, a 20,000 circulation publication that is mailed to every home in Jackson Township.

In the year and a half since, JTOWN Magazine has become THE publication for Jackson Township residents of all ages.   Jackson NJ Online now receives over 2,000,000 visitors per year!   Our magazine is highly anticipated each month because of our very close ties with the community and what we call “Community Inclusion”.     Most media outlets covering Jackson and Toms River are run by mega-corporations.   We realized that unless there is a murder, a crooked politician, a fatal car accident or some other controversial news, the day to day things in life in our community do not get covered.   Things that are truly important to us and affect us as parents who live in these communities, raise our children here and resident looking to make our communities better and highlight the “GOOD” of a community and dwell on the negative for a flashy headline.    We realized early on with GoKidsNJ, New Jersey residents want to find out what is good, just as much as they are curious about what is not so good.   It  has been the key to our success.  By involving local leagues, charities, schools, veterans groups, youth groups, community groups and other civic organizations, each month, we deliver our publication knowing that it is going to have a positive community impact and will support growth and commerce within our community.  That is the goal of all of our publications.  That is the vision of our new magazine, Toms River Family & Community, due to be released in September 2011.

Why did we choose Toms River?   The answer is very simple.  I have lived in Toms River for over 30 years before our family relocated to Jackson 7 years ago.  I attended Cedar Grove Elementary School, Intermediate East and graduated in 1990 from Toms River High School North.   Toms River, in my eyes is, and always has been the key to the Jersey Shore.   We have a great sports base with a proven track record, great schools, a thriving economy and it’s the seat of all that happens in Ocean County.   Our company is a small family owned business.   We’re not a billion dollar firm seeking a media foothold in every small town in America.   All of our writers, photographers and editors live and work in Jackson or Toms River, so it’s a natural fit for us.  I am personally excited about this opportunity to take what we do in Jackson Township to a whole new level here in Toms River.

How can YOU be a part of our magazine?  As I mentioned  previously, our magazine practices Community Inclusion. Any civic group, business, sports league, team, school, parent, senior, community group, government agency or private citizen can write the news for Toms River Magazine.  In fact, each month, JTOWN Magazine has over 20 different community based contributors who use our publication to promote their organizations or programs.    Everyone is invited.  All you have to do is email me personally pstilton@stiltonco.com or call our office at 732-833-2365.   No news is too small, and we’re not of the mindset that only “paid journalists” have the ability to report on their community.

How can we get into the first issue of the magazine?  Please take a look at the sample copy of our most recent issue of JTOWN Magazine.  You will get a feel for the type of news we’re interested in.   Simply put together a few thoughts, a few sentences or paragraphs and email it to us along with a couple of photos.   Everything we get WILL be published as long as it’s a positive submission that supports our mission and that is to promote everything that is good in our community.   The deadline for submissions is August 15th, 2011 for our inaugural issue, but you can start sending your stories, news, game highlights and more TODAY!     

What about Circulation?  Our initial circulation will be 25,000 magazines each month with 20,000 being directly mailed to single family homes in Toms River.
