District 18 Little League Tournament Scoreboard: June 27, 2011

It was day two of the 2011 District 18 Little League Tournament and tonight, the 12 year olds kicked off their quest for Williamsport. Games took place in Jackson, Lacey, Stafford and Toms River.

Toms River National 14 Holbrook 8

At Holbrook Little League Complex in Jackson Township, the defending champion Toms River Nationals slugged their way past the Holbrook Little League of Jackson 14-8. Toms River went deep 6 times including a 4th inning grand slam.
Jackson pitcher Chris Hawryluk struck out 9 batters in 4 innings as Jackson held off Barnegat 4-1 at the Jackson Little League Justice Complex turf fields.
Toms River East National 10 Lakewood 3
After a technical delay with faulty lighting, the Toms River East National team went ahead to defeat Lakewood 10-3 at the Jackson Justice Complex. Pitching and control were issues as Toms River batters walked and stole their way around the infield early in the game, includind three consecutive passed balls that moved 2 runners across the plate, the third was called out at the plate.
Manchester bats were alive and well as they defeated Berkeley 13-3 at the Jackson Justice Complex.

Junior League
At Holbrook Little League Complex, with an early 2-0 lead, the Jackson Little League couldn’t hold on as Lakewood came from behind for a 4-3 win. With a core group of players from the 2009 Jackson major league D18 champions, Jackson is still a contender in the tournament.
