Toms River East 10 year olds now 2-0 in D18 tournament
After defeating Lacey 15-0 Sunday night, the Toms River American 10 year old All-Star team continued where they left off tonight, defeating Barnegat 13-2 in Manchester. Toms River East pounded out 13 hits and 13 runs in their win. East put together another solid pitching performance and defensive highlight reel with great plays up the middle by Jonny Munson and Ahmir Cournier. Barnegat matched Toms River’s 2 runs in their half of the first inning, but were held in check the rest of the way.
Mark Murtha added a late inning two run inside the park homerun to put the game out of reach. East is 2-0 heading into a tough matchup with Brick on Thursday in Barnegat.
Game details provided by Denny Munson.
