Laser speed gun use on the rise
With the nicer weather I am seeing more and more police using laser speed guns to write tickets. Unlike radar which any good radar detector can pickup warnings at over a mile away, there is usually very little or no warning to a laser hit. Laser does have its limitations since it uses light (Does not work in motion, does not work in fog, rain etc.) but when used on a nice day its a good tool for the officer and not so good for drivers with radar detectors.
A radar detector will pick up a laser alerts but since they are usually aiming directly at your vehicle there is not much you can do when hit. There are some good inexpensive products on the market which will help buy you some added time. Take a look at Laser VEIL and the simple Laser Shield products. They are relatively easy to apply and use and they will diffuse the laser guns light preventing the run from getting a reading on the applied surfaces.
