Intermediate North shelter at capacity. Supplies low

Intermediate North shelter is at  full capacity. All residents please use High School East. Supplies are extremely  limited. Residents are asked to bring a pillow, blanket and  snacks.   In the afternoon, Red Cross officials described a shortage of blankets and cots for evacuees.    Lunch today was provided by the Township of Toms River and the Toms River Regional Schools according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.

Evacuation is Mandatory for the barrier  islands only. Mainland and low-lying, flood-prone areas are on a voluntary  evacuation.   Mastronardy suggests residents in potential at-risk neighborhoods use their own judgement as to when to evacuate and to use caution.
