Seaside Que by the Sea Rings in Fall at the Jersey Shore

As things started cooling off here at the Jersey Shore, the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District heated things up with their annual Que By The Seas.

Seaside Heights’ Third Annual “Que by the Sea” BBQ Competition and Festival took place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, September 23, 24, and 25 and was another huge success. The competition portion of the  event, which was sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society, included contestants from throughout the tri-state, who provided the best overall BBQ in four categories, chicken, pork ribs, pork, and brisket. This competition also had an Open Chef’s Choice and Open Dessert contest on Saturday evening. Our contestants put numerous hours, hard work, and determination into this competition in the hopes of winning $13,000 in prize money and awards.

The first place winning teams in each category, including Open Chef’s Choice and Open Dessert were:

1st Place Open Chef’s Choice – Uncle Pig’s Barbeque Pit

1st Place Open Dessert – Piney’s-Pit and Pig Pen BBQ

1st Place Chicken – Chicken Chokers

1st Place Pork Ribs – Smoke’n Dudes

1st Place Pork – Lo’-N-Slo’ BBQ

1st Place Brisket – Three Men and a Baby Back

In the overall ranking, our Reserve Grand Champion was Lo’-N-Slo’ BBQ and the Grand Champion was Three Men and a Baby Back.

“Seaside Heights would like to congratulate all of the winners and thank all of our contestants and vendors who participated in the “Que by the Sea” BBQ Competition because without them this event would not be possible.” said Maria Maruca, Executive Director of the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District.

The weekend in Seaside Heights was jam packed with non-stop musical entertainment, delicious food, and a great BBQ competition. Congratulations to Pat Muller who won the raffle for a Lang 36” BBQ Smoker whose proceeds benefited The Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
