Toms River’s Frankie Edgar KO’s Gray Maynard for UFC Lightweight Title
After a first round that seemed to be heading down the same path as their last showdown, with Maynard getting an upper hand on Frankie Edgar, of Toms River, Edgar settle the score three rounds later by pummeling Maynard in the 4th round of the pair’s third matchup to decide, without a doubt, the UFC Lightweight world champion.

Edgar, 29, wrestled for Toms River High School East, making it to the state championship tournament in Atlantic City three times, finishing 2nd in his junior year.
Edgar is now 14-1-1 in his career with his only loss and draw coming from Maynard. Maynard defeated Edgar in their first matchup and a second bout ended in a draw, leading to last night’s decisive winner take all matchup.
