On Tuesday November 29, 2011 at approximately 1:45 am, Jackson Police Sergeant Mary Nelson was on patrol on North Hope Chapel Road when she observed a gray Saturn being driven erratically and crossing over the center lines of the roadway several times.  Sergeant Nelson followed the Saturn onto South Cooksbridge Road where she and Officer Michael Goelz conducted a motor vehicle stop with the car.

During the traffic stop it appeared that the driver had been consuming alcohol prior to driving the car.  Roadside sobriety testing was done and afterwards the driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and the vehicle was impounded.

Arrested:

Christopher Magnant, age 30, of Toms River.

Mr. Magnant was processed at police headquarters and issued traffic summons for: Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, Driving While Intoxicated, and Failure to Exhibit Registration and Insurance.  He was later released to a family member pending a future court date.
