South Toms River Police capture armed gunman fleeing from armed robbery in Ocean County Mall parking lot

Toms River, NJ – Toms River Police responded to a call involving  a robbery inside the  Ocean County Mall parking lot  at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. A police investigation found two Toms River men Dominic Piccini 19 and Michael Sica 21  were talking to two suspects who got into the back on the Piccini’s car.  One of the suspects than grabbed a prescription bottle of Codeine Cough Syrup and took the two victim’s cell phones and exited the car.   The victims chased the suspects who ran and entered a black Ford Taurus which was parked in the parking lot and occupied by two other males.  As they confronted the suspects in the car one of the men pointed a black semi-automatic gun at them.  The victims raised their arms and then backed away from the vehicle.  While going back to their vehicle they located their cell phones on the ground.

 

Toms River Police activated MOCIB alert notification to other police agencies and the suspect vehicle was located by South Toms River Police.  South Toms River Police Officers John Wissel and Frank Polizzo and Beachwood Officer Keith Messiner detained the suspects and the vehicle until Toms River Detectives responded to continuing the investigation.  Police investigation found that the reported victim in this case was meeting the suspects in the parking lot to sell the narcotic cough syrup for $50.  Police also recovered the weapon and the cough syrup as well as marijuana in the suspects vehicle.

 

As a result of the South Toms River Police assistance Toms River Detective James Magovern and Mark Bajada arrested four suspects Nyguan Brinson 18 of 625 Commonwealth Blvd Manchester Township, Davante Tinnery  19, of  444 Brook forest Drive, Steven Reeves 18 2 Citadel Court both of  South Toms River, and Richard Irving 20, 802 Oak Street, Lakehurst.  All suspects are currently held on charges of robbery, possession of firearm for unlawful purpose.

All suspects are being held on $75,000 bail no 10% in the Ocean County Jail.

 

This is the fourth armed robbery involving guns and people dealing narcotics reported to police this month.  Anyone with information can contact Detective James Magovern at 349-0150 ext 1213 or the narcotics unit at 349-0150 ext. 1272.
