Elderly woman injured after being dragged during Stop & Shop purse snatching

At 4 p.m. on Monday a 71 year old Toms River woman was in the parking lot of Shop and Stop on Route #37 when a white male drove past her in a dark vehicle and grabbed her purse.  The victim had her purse over her shoulder and was dragged for 40 feet before she freed herself from her purse. The victim was treated by Silverton First Aid Squad for cuts to her knees and arms as well as a head injury.  The victims beige purse contained about $50 and credit cards.

The suspect is about 30 years with short brown hair.  The suspect drove out the shopping center and was last observed westbound on Route #37 at a high rate of speed.  Officer Ryan Quinn is investigating along with Detective Lou Santoro and Alex Scherer anyone with information is requested to call 349-0150 ext 1276.
