Toms River Fire Companies respond to apartment fire

Toms River Police Officer Thomas Dimichele and Fire Inspector Kevin Britton investigated a fire 7 a.m. this morning at an apartment building a 149 Lien Street.  Fire Chief Jeff Cirz coordinated fire departments that responded to the general alarm fire which included Toms River Fire Companies 1 & 2,  Pleasant Plains, East Dover, Silverton .   The fire was extinguished within fifteen minutes by the fire service. Damaged to a vacant apartment was limited to a  wall near a garbage can where someone reportly emptied an ashtray shortly before the fire began.  Toms River Schools provided a school bus for other residents who were evacuated from the building while the fire service extinguished the fire.  There were no injuries and all residents were able to return to their units after the fire was extinguished.
