Toms River Police investigating hit and run accident.

Officer Mathew Broderick is investigating a hit and run accident that occurred midnight Saturday morning at route #9 and Silverton Road.  A witness observed a silver color vehicle southbound on Route #9 leave the roadway and struck a NO Stopping or standing sign and a fire hydrant before swerving back onto the roadway.  The vehicle then stopped went in reverse and struck a utility pole. The vehicle then fled south on route #9 with significant damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle.
