Lithuanian Flag Raising in Toms River

The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders is hosting the 15th annual Lithuanian Flag Raising Ceremony at noon on Thursday, February 16 at the Ocean County Administration Building, 101 Hooper Avenue.

Sponsored by The Central Jersey Chapter of the Lithuanian-American Community, the ceremony marks the 94th anniversary of the Lithuanian Declaration of Independence, after more than 120 years of Czarist Russian rule.

“We welcome our friends and neighbors of Lithuanian descent to this flag raising ceremony,” said Ocean County Freeholder Director Gerry P. Little.  “We are pleased to participate in the celebration of this Eastern European nation’s independence by proclaiming February 16, 2012 Lithuanian Independence Day in Ocean County.”

The public is invited to attend the flag raising. For additional information please contact the Ocean County Department of Public Affairs at 732-929-2000.
