Toms River Resident Rescued in Grand Teton National Park

Park Rangers rescued Toms River snowboarder Mike Fasciolli, 36, after he and Joe Tauro, 55, of Brick Township made a wrong turn while snowboarding and ended up in the park’s Granite Canyon area.     The pair crossed over the ski boundary area from the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort shortly before 3pm on Monday.    Instead of reaching their intended destination of the Rock Springs Bowl, they ended up in Grand Teton National Park.

The local Teton County Search and Rescue team located the men through the GPS feature on their cellphone after the men contacted local authorities at 7:30pm.    Park rangers used a snowmobile to reach the pair in the lower section of Granite Canyon when they were found at approximately 10pm.     This was the first rescue by rangers in the park during the 2011-12 season.
