Toms River Police Investigating Todd Road Shooting

Toms River Police are investigating a shooting incident on that occurred on Todd Road near Church Road at 11 p.m. on Monday night.  Sergeant James Reilly coordinated the response of officers to the area after police received numerous calls about multiple shoots fired and a vehicle leaving the scene.  One resident called reporting a young man was pounding on her back slider door stating someone was trying to kill him.  That male was not injured but fled  prior to police units arriving.

 

Captain Bruce Burgess is coordinating the investigation of the Detective Bureau that has identified the two victim’s who were shot at.  Detectives are still investigating identifying people who were involved and what generated the shooting that took place in the roadway. Investigation by Officer Tim Sysol found that a bullet struck a vehicle. That vehicle was  later located by Officer Chris McDowell in a another area of the Township. .  At this time,  none of the people involved required medical treatment.

 

Assisting were the Ocean County sheriff’s criminalistics unit and Department’s special enforcement unit.  Anyone with information can contact Detective Mark Bajada at 349-0150 ext 1241.
