Letter: Shelly Adler Criticizes Jon Runyan’s Medicare Vote

Today, Congressman Jon Runyan voted to eliminate Medicare. He couldn’t be more out-of-touch siding with Washington special interests by selling out our seniors and future retirees. I am outraged and know that you are too. The job of an elected Representative is to watch out for their constituents’ best interests, and today’s vote makes it clear that Congressman Runyan will pursue an extremist agenda to gain favor with the most powerful in Washington at our expense.

Stand with me to show Congressman Runyan that you support our seniors!

I have spoken with senior citizens all over the district who are making difficult financial decisions everyday about what necessity they can afford, and what they must live without. It is just unthinkable that in our great country, people will work a lifetime contributing to America’s economic success, and now are faced with a choice of whether to buy groceries or essential medications. It is simply wrong and a great injustice.

Help me hold Jon Runyan accountable – contribute today!

Our dedication to saving Medicare shows who we are as a nation – it serves as proof that we value and support those who have worked their entire lives to move our country and our economy forward. As a member of Congress, I will not let such an important program end for those who need it most, while corporate special interests are rewarded. Together, we will fight to protect this life-saving program that is so vital for seniors to live with the dignity that they have earned.

A letter by Shelly Adler, candidate for Congress in November 2012.
