Illegal Fireworks Cause Dock Fire in Toms River; Bus Fire on Route 166

Toms River Police Officers Ken Thomas and Jason Putkowski responded to a fire behind a residence on Bay Stream Drive on Sunday morning.  An investigation found that a dock behind the a residence was on fire and was apparently ignited by some fireworks.  The Silverton Fire Company extinguished the fire and the homeowner who reported some friends set off fireworks earlier in the night was issued a citation for illegal fireworks.

At 9 p.m. on Saturday evening,  Toms River Police responded to a public service bus on fire in the northbound lane of route #166 and Route #37. Two passengers and the driver exited the bus when after realizing the engine compartment was smoking.  Toms River Fire Companies 1 & 2 extinguished the fire and traffic was detour on Main Street for about an hour according to Officer David Lazaro.
