17 Year Old Arrested in Toms River Suspect in Barrier Island Theft Spree
On Friday, Toms River Police arrested a 17 year old male from Bursnville, New Jersey as a suspect in a rash of thefts from unlocked cars in the Chadwick Beach section of the township.
The teen was arrested after being spotted by Officer Dan Ruiz and Anthony Scala, who were working an off duty assignment at the WaWa convenience store. At about 1:30 a.m., the pair recognized the teen from a surveillance video provided by a resident after a theft earlier in the week on Harbor Court.
“Upon further investigation, along with Officer Joe Mastronardy,. the officers recovered 10 GPS, 2 apple IPODS, a cannon camera, 3 knifes, 4 flashlights, a box of Mrs. Palmers surf wax, and a sector Long Board skate board.” said Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronaardy.
Victims to Get their Stolen Property Back
“Detective Randy Petrick who is leading the investigation is following up the investigation of and returning sized property to victims of over a dozen thefts that have occurred in the last week,” Mastronardy said. “Anyone with information can contact Detective Petrick at 349-0150 ext 1235.”
