By Toms River Schools

Joseph Hyer, who graduated from TR HS South in June of 2008, was the co-executive producer of Emerson College’s EIV News Live @ 9. The half hour live newscast is completely created and produced by students. The award was the culmination of Joseph’s collegiate career as he had been involved in the organization (as a writer, on-camera weather correspondent, reporter, producer, assignment editor and more) since September, 2008. The organization has continually won Associated Press and Emmy Awards.

Joseph along with his co-executive producer Jaclyn Cangro led a team nearly 30 students who worked on their show in various roles. The 2012 New England Emmy Award for Outstanding College/University Student Production – Newscast was given for their show which aired on December 7, 2011. The award was presented on June 1 at a formal ceremony in Boston surrounded by television professionals from across New England.

Joseph graduated with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in December. He began working as a Digital Media Producer at the digital corporate offices in New York City for Townsquare Media. Townsquare Media owns 245 radio stations across the United States including WOBM and NJ 101.5.
