Homeowner Thwarts Car Burglary in Ortley Beach

Ortley Beach–Toms River Police responded to a burglary of a motor vehicle at 11:30 p.m.  Thursday on 8th Avenue in the Ortley Beach section of the Township.

The victim observed a black male about 20 years of age entering an unlocked vehicle in the driveway of the home.  When confronted by the owner, the man fled on foot towards the ocean.

The suspect was wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweat shirt and was carrying a black backpack.   There were no proceeds taken from the car in the burglary.  The incident is being investigated by Officer Mathew Broderick.
