Weather Dampens Final Day of Summer Season in Seaside

The Sights of Labor Day 2012

Seaside Park–The weather on Labor Day was overcast, with passing showers and a steady east wind that made surf conditions too rough for swimming.    By early evening, the crowds of the 2012 summer tourist season had all but cleared the boardwalk from Seaside Park to Seaside Heights.

Despite the gloomy end to the season, this year has been a good one for shore businesses, coupled with a summer of cooperating weather for the most part.

While the sea of tourists have gone, September is typically the time when locals take to the streets and enjoy the shore without the huge crowds and excessive traffic jams.

Some of the area’s biggest seasonal events are held in September and October.

On September 8th, Barnegat is hosting Pirate’sDay, Island Beach is hosting Sailfest,  Lavallette hosts heritage day and it’s Shamrock fest at the boardwalk in Seaside Heights.

On the 9th, Seaside hosts ‘Seafood in Seaside’ and a vintage car show.
