Police Seeking Witnesses in Wednesday Fatal MVA in Jackson Township

Updated/Additional information on fatal motor vehicle crash on Toms River Road at Sylvia Lane:

 

The dump truck involved in the motor vehicle crash on September 5, 2012 was a 2004 Mack Dump Truck owned by Superior Materials Inc., which is based in Pennsylvania.  The truck was fully loaded with a load of asphalt at the time of the crash.

 

The dump truck was traveling south on Toms River Road and crossed over the center line of the roadway for unknown reasons.  The truck struck a utility pole and traveled through the parking lot of the Krauszers where it struck a vacant mobile home.  The truck then struck a second utility pole and then struck a second mobile home on Sylvia Lane before coming to a final rest against a tree.

 

The driver of the truck was identified as Joseph V. Leming, age 58, of Morrisville, PA.  The driver was the only fatality and there were no other injuries in the crash.

 

The crash is still under investigation by the Jackson Township Traffic Safety Unit.  If there were any witnesses to this crash, they are asked to contact Police Officer Joseph Candido at 732-928-1111.
