Toms River North Beats Colts Neck 35-7 to Start Season

Toms River–Colts Neck struck first in Sunday’s rescheduled game against the Mariners, taking an early 7-0 lead. Toms River North on an 8 yard run by Troran Mitchell. It was all the scoring the Mariners’ defense would allow over the next three quarters.
On the next possession, the Mariners drove back down field and Kyle Carrington brought a 10 yard pass from Carmen Sclafani into the end zone. After the first quarter, the game was tied 7-7.
At the end of the second quarter, Sclafini threw a 20 yard pass to Carrington with seconds on the clock in the half, taking a 14-7 lead.
In the second half, the Mariner offense put up three unanswered touchdowns. Trevon Bass had a 1 yard goal line rush, followed by an interception by Garrett Kroeger which he ran back into the Colts Neck end zone for 80 yards.
In the fourth quarter, Bass had another quick run into the end zone from 6 yards out. Chris Gulla nailed all five point after attempts.
Sclafini finished the game connecting with 17 out of 25 pass attempts for 235 yards and two touchdowns.
