Ocean County to Host Composting Class at Lakewood Recycling Center
Lakewood-(PR)–Ocean County residents interested in learning how to compost can sign up for the county’s free “how to” compost class scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20.
The class is scheduled to begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. and participants are asked to be at the Ocean County Recycling Education Center by 10 a.m. The Education Center is located at the county’s Northern Recycling Center, at the end of Towbin Avenue, here.
“This program is a great hands-on program for residents interested in learning how to compost their organic waste,” said Freeholder James F. Lacey, who serves as liaison to the county’s recycling program. “The class is taught by Ocean County Master Composters.”
The class runs about an hour and a half.
“We urge our residents to sign up for this program,” Lacey said. “This gives our residents the opportunity to reuse in a beneficial way some of the trash produced at home. Compost is great for a variety of gardening including plants and vegetables.”
The program is sponsored by the Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Ocean County Department of Solid Waste Management.
To register for the class, contact Mary Jerkowicz, program monitor, at (732) 506-5047. The class is limited to 25 attendees.
