Brick Police Department Searching for Burglary Suspect

Brick–Brick police are looking for a male subject who was burglarizing a Tune Brook Drive home before being surprised by the homeowner and fled the area.  At approximately 3 PM yesterday, Wednesday, Sept. 12th, a resident onTunes Brook Drive arrived home and entered through the front door when they heard someone run from the rear of the home.  The homeowner then observed a male subject run out the back of the house onto the rear deck.  The subject then jumped into the lagoon to the rear of the home.  The subject was observed swimming across the lagoon and exited the water on to Doe Court when the homeowner lost sight of him.  An extensive search of the area was conducted including a canine unit with negative results.

The investigation determined that the subject entered the home by forcing open a window in the front of the home that was obscured by bushes.  Once in the home the subject began piling up items he apparently planned to steal when the owner arrived home.   The subject did not have the opportunity to take anything from the home prior to fleeing.  The subject is described as a W/M approx. 5’ 10” tall, approx. 20 – 25 yoa, with Brown hair, crew cut style, wearing a red shirt and blue jeans.  The red sneakers the subject was wearing were found in the water and along the shoreline where he exited the water.

Two neighbors in the area reported that a subject matching the same description knocked on their doors reportedly looking for a lost pet.  It is believed the subject was canvassing the area to find a home that was unoccupied.

Anyone with information with regard to the subject or the burglary is encouraged to contact the Detective Erik Olsen of the Brick Township Police Department Investigative Division at 732-262-1120.
