Local Artist to Display Works at Virginia Perle Gallery
Toms River–The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception of an art exhibition by Robert Henne, a Toms River artist, on Friday evening, September, 28, 2012, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Virginia Perle Art Gallery, 96 East Water Street, Toms River, N.J. Henne’s exhibition at the Gallery will run through October 27, 2012.
Visitors will see a select group of local paintings depicting old houses, sailboats, boat yards, and other familiar places and scenes from the shore area and from other parts of New Jersey.
Originally from Ewing, N.J., Henne moved to Toms River in 1992.
Prior to coming to the shore, Henne exhibited extensively in juried shows in central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania in such venues as The Coryell Gallery, Lambertville; Phillips Mill Annual Exhibitions, New Hope, Pennsylvania; McCarter Theatre, Princeton; and the Trenton City Museum. His notable one-man shows in Princeton were entitled “Illuminations” and “Impact Through Color.”
Henne taught painting and drawing classes for adults in Hamilton Township for seven years. Henne says, “Teaching gave me the opportunity to expose my students to my method of using color to inject everyday painting subjects with impact and significance.”
Since moving to Ocean County, Henne has used the ocean and beach environment as an inspiration to further his highly original portrayals. His work has been seen at the Ocean County Artists’ Guild, Jane Law Gallery, Long Beach Island; the SoHo Gallery, Toms River; and the Ocean County Library, among other exhibits.
