Brick High School Fan Sportsmanship in the Spotlight Again
Brick–The sportsmanship of fans of Brick’s high school sports teams is once again under scrutiny. This time, it comes from residents in the town. After a rowdy rivalry football game between Brick and Brick Memorial, which the Mustangs won 35-13, the behavior of students in attendance, the game became the subject matter of a discussion at last week’s Board of Education meeting.
School Board Vice President John Talty condemned the language and actions of parents and students.
Despite warnings during school prior to the game, things got out of hand.
In March of 2011, Brick fans made the news when four residents were arrested at a basketball game at Jackson Memorial High School.
On Friday, Brick Memorial traveled to Jackson Memorial again for a football game against the Jaguars. No incidents were reported as Brick defeated Jackson 34-7.
The school board said they will create a committee to explore the possibility of enacting a student code of conduct at sporting events.
