Three Armed Gunman Tie Up Toms River Couple, Ransack Home
Toms River–Overnight, a 66 year old man and his 56 year old wife were awoken in their home, shortly before midnight. A burglar had entered their home in the River Crest section of the township through their back door.
The three suspects were armed with handguns and wearing ski masks according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. After forcing entry and waking the victims from bed, the couple was bound and tied up in their bedroom for approximately thirty minutes.
The armed intruders ransacked the home and stole various items.
Next door, a neighbor who was at the end of their driveway checking mail noticed the suspicious activity and contacted the Toms River Police Department. ”The neighbor observed the suspects flee in two vehicles and then went and freed the victims who refused medical attention,” Mastronardy said. ”Detective Louis Santora and Roger Hull are investing the robbery along with the Ocean County sheriff’s Department.”
The suspects removed a large amount of jewelry and cash was removed from the home and anyone with information can contact 349-0150 ext 1276.
