Body of Woman Found in Pond in Manchester Retirement Community

Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford made the following statement concerning the discovery of the body of a 63 year-old Manchester woman last night.

At approximately 10:15 last night, Manchester Police received a telephone call reporting that Maryann Denny, of 1C Flamingo Terrace in the Cedar Glen West section of the township was missing.  The caller indicated that Ms. Denny had not been seen for several hours and that it was unusual for Ms. Denny to leave her residence without advising family members.

A search of the area resulted in the discovery of Ms. Denny’s body in the lake near the Cedar Glen Recreational Center.  There were no signs of foul play and Ms. Denny’s death does not appear to have occurred under suspicious circumstances.  Firefighters from the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Company responded and assisted at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with Ms. Denny’s family at this time”, the Prosecutor said.

The investigation is being handled by the Manchester Police Department with assistance from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Criminalistics Investigations Unit.
