Brick Police Arrest Two in Conjunction with Home Invasion and Assault
Brick–Two local men have been arrested by Brick Police detectives in relation to a robbery that occurred Tuesday evening, September 25th, that sent a Point Pleasant man to the hospital. At approx. 8:30 PM on Tuesday, Brick police were called to a residence in the 100 Block of Harding Drive. Upon arrival police found the victim, Rick Hatch, 20 yoa, Point Pleasant, with several injuries to his head and face. Hatch reported that he was assaulted by two men in the garage of the home, which belongs to a relative. The two men punched and kicked Hatch in the head until he was unconscious. The two men removed $60 from Hatches pocket before fleeing in a vehicle. When Hatch regained consciousness he went into the home and a relative called police. Hatch, who was treated on scene by Brick Twp. Volunteer EMS and then transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, was able to provide police with the identity of one of the suspects. Hatch was treated for multiple lacerations and contusions as well as several facial fractures.
The investigation has led to the arrest of two township men late on Wednesday evening. Brick Police Detectives Erik Olsen and Thomas Cooney arrested William Chapman, 19 yoa, and Dale Kessler, 22 yoa, both of Sawmill Road, Brick. Both were charged with one count each of Robbery and Aggravated Assault. Ocean County Superior Court Judge Wendell Daniels set bail on both at $200,000. Both were transported to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.
