Man Charged with DWI in Tuckerton
Tuckerton–On 10/6/12, while on patrol, Ptl. Joseph Luna observed a vehicle cross the center line on South Green Street and travel head-on toward the officer’s car. After swerving to avoid the suspect vehicle, Ptl. Luna turned his patrol car around and effected a motor vehicle stop. The driver, Robert Pankiewitz, 42, of Little Egg Harbor was determined to be under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs after failing a road sobriety test.
Mr. Pankiewitz was extremely uncooperative and refused to enter the patrol vehicle by kicking his legs at Ptl. Luna and falling to the ground. Once he was seated in the vehicle, the accused kicked the rear passenger side window out of the patrol car. He was charged with DWI, Criminal Mischief and Resisting Arrest.
During processing, Christopher Pankiewitz, the accused’s brother arrived at headquarters to inquire about the charges. He was advised that his brother would be released shortly. Christopher became verbally abusive, demanding that Robert be released. He continuously rang the doorbell and placed calls to police dispatch. He was belligerent and antagonistic toward police officers. Ptl. Luna then charged Christopher Pankiewitz, 37, with Disorderly Conduct.
Ptl. Luna was assisted by LEH PD officers Sgt. Hart and Cpl. Graczyk.
