Two Men Arrested in Jackson After Brandishing Loaded Assault Rifle at Group Near Six Flags
Jackson–At approximately 10:57 pm on Saturday October 6, 2012, multiple Jackson Police Officers responded to an area in the Wildlife Management Area located off of Reed Road behind the Six Flags Great Adventure Property on the report of two people brandishing an AR-15 type rifle and handgun and having fired one round.
Responding officers located a small campfire and group of people who had been in the woods at a gathering. After securing the area, they spoke with the caller who reported that he was at the area with friends when two unknown males arrived. The males exited their vehicle and made contact with the group. At this time, it was reportedly observed that the males were dressed in army type BDUs and one was observed with an AR-15 type rifle while the second had what was reported to be a Glock handgun in a nylon thigh holster. The one male then activated a flashlight and laser aiming device that were mounted on the rifle and swept the rifle at the group, aiming it specifically at the caller. The males then engaged the group in conversation, asking what they were doing in the area. During this conversation, the male carrying the rifle fired one round at a tree.
After this was done, the caller was able to move away from the group and call 911 with a cell phone.
Officers arrived and secured the area and during the investigation recovered a Glock 22 .40 caliber handgun with three loaded magazines for the gun and 39 rounds of ammunition. Officers also recovered a semi-automatic 5.56 caliber AR-15 rifle, a 20 round and a 30 round magazine for the rifle and 47 rounds of 5.56 ammunition. Also recovered was one spent 5.56 casing from the area where it was reported that the male fired the rifle.
