Woman From Ghana Caught Shoplifting in Toms River
A police report has been released by Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy regarding the arrest of an African national in Toms River:
Toms River–Officer Frank Lauria responded to Kohl’s in the Toms River Shopping Center 7 p.m. Monday night reference loss prevention officers had a female shoplifter detained. The shoplifter stated she had no identification on her but when placed under arrest it was determined she had identifications in other people’s names and 57 items of Jewelry wrapped in paper towels in her purse.
After being processed at Toms River Police Headquarters it was confirmed she was 33 year old Joyce Ababio 33 of Ghana, Africa who also listed an address of Tudor Place in the Bronx. Investigation by Officer Lauria and Detective Brian Lomer discovered she has been in the area since April working as a health care worker for the elderly. The names she used were Akosua Oforiwaa, Faustina Abebio and Joyce Abebio.
The jewelry she has in her possession included a NYPD and a Xavier High School rings that she claims all belonged to a relative in Africa.
The health care organization she worked for is cooperating with the investigation and the investigation has determined one item was taken from a client she worked for in the Whiting section of Manchester Township.
ICE was contacted and she is being held on no bail in the Ocean County jail anyone with information can contact Brian Lomer at 349-0150 ext 1217.
