Authorities Raid Alleged Drug Den in Seaside Heights
Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford announced today the culmination of an investigation into drug activity in the Ocean County area.
On October 19, 2012 Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group and members of the Seaside Heights Police Department obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence located at 138 Porter Avenue, Apt.4, Seaside Heights NJ. As a result of the search warrant police seized a quantity of cocaine that was packaged into several individual bags. Also as a result of the search warrant police seized approximately $1400 in cash and an expandable baton from within the subject residence. Upon execution of the search warrant police observed that the residence was equipped with a video surveillance system, which monitored persons arriving at and departing the subject residence.
The following individual was arrested and charged:
Alexander Contreras age 31 of 138 Porter Avenue, Apt. 4, Seaside Heights NJ. Mr. Contreras was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of a weapon and maintaining a fortified structure. The Honorable Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson Jr. JSC. set bail for Mr. Contreras at $50,000 no ten percent.
Assisting in the investigation as well as the execution of the search warrant were members of the Ocean County Regional SWAT Team and the Ocean County Sheriffs Department K-9 Unit.
The media and public are reminded that criminal charges are merely accusations and that these defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
