Toms River Marine Honored as Veterans Day Parade Grand Marshall

Mayor Tom Kelaher has announced on behalf of the Township of Toms River that United States Marine Corps Sgt. William P. Carolan has been appointed the Grand Marshall for the 2012 Ocean County Veterans Day Parade.   Carolan is a 2004 graduate of Toms River High School North.   He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on September 24, 2007 and attended Boot-camp in Parris Island where he received a Meritorious Promotion to Pvt. First Class; attended MOS school at Pensacola Naval Air Station and was stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, he was a Rotary Wing Airframe Mechanic CH53 Delta and Combat Marksmanship Coach and was Honorably discharged on July 23, 2012; and

Sgt.Carolan has received the following:  Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, 2 Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Afghanistan Campaign Medals Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, 2 Certificates of Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Nato Medal-ISAF Afghanistan, Navy Unit Commendation and the Individual Meritorious Mast Award
