Boil Water Advisories Still in Effect in Some Ocean County Communities says OEM

Toms River–Eight Ocean County communities still have “Boil Water Advisories” as of Monday, November 9th:

NJAW– Barrier islands only, Issued BWA (11/9/12): Sample collection pending operational status.

  • oBrick Twp.
  • Dover Twp. (Toms River) (NJAW customers on the barrier island only including Chadwick
  • Beach and Normandy Beach)
  • Lavallette Boro
  • Mantoloking Boro
  • Ortley Beach NJ1507007
  • Pelican Beach NJ1507008

Southwind Village, Ocean County, population affected: 625 [NJ1511008]. Issued BWA (11/9/12)
11/9/12: System to contact lab to collect water quality samples (DEP).
Fountainhead Parks Inc.-Jackson Township, Ocean County, population affected: 280
[NJ1511013]. Issued BWA (11/4/12) upon system start up, system back on power grid, due to loss of
system pressure. System resumed normal operations on 11/5/2012. Water quality samples collected
11/5/2012, results pending. Lost power due to N’oreaster so need to resample.
Long Beach Township Water Department – Brant Beach, Long Beach Township, Ocean County,
population affected: 2295 [NJ1517001]
Update: System issued BWA due to power outage and loss of system pressure. System is stabilized
on grid power.
Pinewood Estates, Barnegat Township, Ocean County, population affected: 1493 [1533002]
Update: System has resumed normal operations. Water quality samples collected 11/5/2012, results
pending as of 11/09/12.
Seaside Heights Water Department, 1526001
Update: 11/6/2012: Brian Hoffnagle, Operator; system experienced extensive service interruption;
north side service areas (oceanfront) isolated from service, many service connections ruptured from
Hurricane damage; town evacuated; BWA issued for remaining residents – advisory reinforced using sound truck broadcasts. Water supply for Fire protection restored. Treatment plant was flooded and has been shock disinfected and flushed; flushing of distribution service areas to commence 11/7/2012. Seaside Heights is the sole supplier to NJAW – Pelican Island and NJAW – Ortley Beach, both systems heavily damaged and not in operation, refer to section below for details. Population affected 3000.
