GCU Awarded $15,000 Grant by TD Charitable Foundation

LAKEWOOD–Georgian Court University has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, for “Court Connections: Preparing Students for Career Success,” a program to better prepare GCU students for the job market and post-graduation success.

The Career Success program builds on the services of GCU’s Office of Career Development by providing for advanced career technology and an increased number of career and mentorship workshops. The grant program also includes a partnership with Lakewood High School to enable its students to share access to the new software and participate in the training workshops.

The TD grant funding will provide for new career technology, which includes a customizable software program for management of internship and job placements, experiential learning, career fairs, professional networks, career advising, and career live chats. The software will give students increased access to local, regional, and national career opportunities and employers; résumé/cover letter assistance; and mentorships.

The grant will also enable GCU to supplement its career and personality-type assessment software to offer students a more diverse selection of assessments. Additionally, the grant will help GCU to increase the number of career training and mentorship programs offered to students. These programs include a career panel series, career coach presentations, and training workshops on business etiquette, personal branding, life after college, and ethical leadership.

Jeffries, RSM, Ph.D. “The TD Charitable Foundation grant will help GCU enhance its career technology by increasing student access to internships, jobs, and career placements and offering more career workshops. Effective career preparation is a priority for the university and will help GCU students become resourceful entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, and innovative leaders in their chosen fields.”
