Police Name Man Arrested for Exxon Armed Robbery

TOMS RIVER– Steven Lazarie,21, of  West Todd Road was charged with Robbery and held in Ocean County Jail on $150,000 bail no 10% after being arrested for an armed robbery of a gas station Wednesday night.

Toms River Police responded to the Exxon service Station at Route # and Route 571 just after 6 p.m. Wednesday night.  Sergeant Ed Mooney coordinated a search of the area for a white male who was reportedly armed with a handgun and left the scene north on route 9 with about $200 in proceeds.

The suspect, now identified as Lazarie, was observed by a witness running  down Swain Avenue a dead end just north of the station towards the Garden state Parkway.  Within 30 minutes of the robbery Officer Frank Moschella observed a suspect matching the description of the suspect at Old Freehold Road and the Garden state Parkway.

The investigation is being handled  by Detectives Roger Hull, Brian Lomer  and Louis Santora.  Also assisting in the investigation is the Ocean County Sheriff’s department.
