Phil is a lifelong resident of Ocean County. He graduated in 1990 from Toms River North, before serving four years in the United States Marine Corps. After his service to his nation, Phil worked at the Asbury Park Press and Home News Tribune, where he played a vital role in bringing the newspaper online from 1995 to 1998 as a member of IN Jersey and as analyst for the newspaper's Information Technology Department.
After working at the Asbury Park Press, he worked as Regional NY/NJ Information Technology Director at the global media solutions firm,. ePresence, Inc. He was the CIO of Netspedient Business Solutions in Toms River, before founding JTOWN Magazine in 2008, a community publication for Jackson Township. In 2010, he launched Toms River Magazine. He is a co-founder of The Ocean Signal.
Phil started his journalism career in 1986 as a music writer for the Jersey Shore based music magazine, Jersey Scene, an alternative / underground music publication.
Political Affiliation: Phil is currently registered as Republican, as of 2010, after being an independent his entire life. "The change has nothing to do with local politics, it's just something I never got around to changing until recently." In 2010, Phil ran as an independent in a solo campaign for the Jackson School Board of Education, which he narrowly lost, but garnered the most votes of any first time candidate in the town's recent history.
Coverage: Phil enjoys covering local sports, tourism and politics. For four years, Phil has covered, exclusively, the District 18 Little League Tournaments and Jersey Shore Pop Warner/ AYF post seasons. As editor of GoKidsNJ, 2004-Present, Phil has extensively covered Jersey Shore Tourism from Cape May to Sandy Hook and beyond over the past decade.
Phil resides in Jackson Township, since 2004 with his wife Christine and two young children.
